Liverpool managed to eke out a 2-1 win against struggling Crystal Palace, but Alan Pardew’s side would consider themselves unlucky, as they conceded a controversial penalty towards the fag end of the game.
This win takes Liverpool to within three points of Manchester United (prior to the Red Devils’ fixture against West Brom), and Jurgen Klopp’s side would be looking to build momentum to challenge for the European spots going forward. There was quite a lot of praise for the Reds on Twitter, for this win.
Scoring a winner with 10 men, in Fergie time, is not a bad way for #LFC to warm up for Man Utd.

Emre Çan is like a pick up truck. Won’t look all fancy on good roads but will bail you out on the bad ones. Was immense today!

Christian Benteke scored the winner against Bournemouth (1-0), Leicester (1-0), Sunderland (0-1) and Crystal Palace (1-2). #LFC #12

715 – Christian Benteke ended a run of 715 minutes in all competitions without a goal for Liverpool. Relief.

However, Benteke’s penalty was the biggest talking point of the match, as the Belgian forward seemed to have gone down with minimal contact. Here are some of the best reactions to the penalty.
Alan Pardew fuming here. Accusing Christian Benteke of diving.

There was NO contact … I stress NO contact between the two players … LFC hang your head in shame …

What’s red but goes down on his knees at the palace?

@andygoldstein05 it was clearly a foul. Sliding in senselessly and caught Benteke with his knee. Bad defending
