Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has made just one change to the side that defeated Watford at the weekend for the Champions League clash against Ajax.

Chelsea have recalled Marcos Alonso to the starting XI for their UEFA Champions League encounter against Ajax at Stamford Bridge. The Spanish left-back was left out of the lineup at the weekend against Watford, but returns at the expense of Emerson Palmieri.

Frank Lampard has made no other changes to the side that defeated the Hornets, meaning Kepa Arrizabalaga continues between the sticks for Chelsea. He will once again have the partnership of Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori shielding him while club captain Cesar Azpilicueta holds on to his spot at right-back.

Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic continue in the midfield double pivot for Chelsea, with Mason Mount operating as the playmaker. The England international will once again be flanked by Brazilian international Willian and new signing Christian Pulisic, who scored a goal at the weekend.

Tammy Abraham continues to spearhead the Chelsea attack ahead of Michy Batshuayi, who is named among the substitutes. Also on the bench is midfield dynamo N’Golo Kante, who has returned from injury and could play some part in the game. Callum Hudson-Odoi, Billy Gilmour, Reece James, Andreas Christensen and Willy Caballero make up the rest of the subs for Chelsea.

Chelsea Confirmed XI: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Zouma, Tomori, Alonso; Jorginho, Kovacic; Willian, Mount, Pulisic; Abraham
