Messi became Argentina’s all time top goal scorer, beating Gabriel Batistuta’s record of 54 goals, after scoring against USA in the semi finals of the Copa America Centenario. It was a match with historic significance, as Argentina succefully entered the final of an imporant international competion for third consecutive time. The Barcelona forward, overwhelmed the crowd at Huston, with a majestic free kick and two assists.
