Ecstasy quickly turned to agony for Liverpool fans in the League Cup final against Manchester City. The Citizens held the lead for most of the match thanks to a Fernandinho strike, but a late equaliser from Coutinho had the Reds’ fans abuzz again. The match eventually went on to penalties with the score tied at one goal apiece.

Fernandinho scuffed City’s first penalty, while Emre Can scored for Liverpool, but it all went downhill from there for the Reds. Willy Caballero pulled off three outstanding saves, denying Lucas Leiva, Coutinho and Adam Lallana, while Jesus Navas, Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure all scored to give Manchester City a 3-1 win in the shoot-out.
