The Blues’ defensive woes have been a part of their failure to match up to expectations this year, but it looks like they might repeat the episode with De Bruyne again and let another young prodigy leave Stamford Bridge.

19-year-old Danish defender Andreas Christensen has been quite impressive during his loan spell at Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach, and the club’s sporting director Max Eberl has made it clear that they want to sign up the promising youngster for a permanent deal.

“Our intention is to try and get into talks with Chelsea in the summer,” Eberl recently told German publication Kicker.

“Andreas fulfils everything we’ve seen in him. And we are delighted that we were able to take him on loan without any ifs and buts.”

It is being reported that the German side are ready to shell out 11.9 million pounds for the Dane.

Manchester United and Liverpool also interested in Chelsea starlet

However, the defender is also reportedly being pursued by the Blues’ Premier League rivals Manchester United and Liverpool. Both of them have had defensive worries of their own this season and Christensen could be just what the doctor ordered. They have enough financial fire power to outbid anything Monchengladbach has to offer, but Chelsea may not want to strengthen their domestic rivals.

The Blues have defensive troubles of their own in the form of the injured Kurt Zouma and the departing John Terry. Christensen could be just the player Chelsea are looking for as well, but the club are known to let young talents slip away from them. Andreas Christensen could join the list of players like Romelu Lukaku and Kevin de Bruyne.

The Hammers looking to rein in the Ox

West Ham United are not content to be considered giant killers in the Premier League and are primed and ready to take their success to the Champions League. To do so, the club is looking to make some big name signings over the summer. While they were earlier linked to Chelsea captain John Terry, they are now looking to another London rival for new recruits.

Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has found himself in the periphery of things at the Emirates stadium thanks to a bad combination of form and fitness. According to the Brentwood Gazette, West Ham are lining up a 15 million pound bid for the England International.

The 22-year-old former Southampton winger is widely regarded as a great talent, but has lacked first team opportunities at Arsenal and been accused of not taking his career seriously. Whether it would change his attitude remains to be seen, but a move to the Hammers will definitely ensure first team action for Ox, that too in a top premier league club.

AC Milan want to keep Balotelli

Mario Balotelli has been a bit of a nomad in European football since bursting onto the scene as a youngster with Inter Milan. The controversial Italian striker has since moved back and forth between England and Italy, and is currently on loan at AC Milan from parent club Liverpool.

Although he isn’t exactly setting the Serie A on fire, the Rossoneri president Silvio Berlusconi has stated that he would be willing to take a financial hit to keep the 26-year old forward at the San Siro.

“Will we sign him outright? It depends on him,” Berlusconi said, according to the Mirror.

“He has extraordinary technical and physical qualities, especially if he can really show maturity in terms of his behaviour in his life and his position on the pitch… He drifts out to the wings too much. If he were to do these things we’d be very happy to make a financial sacrifice and keep him here with us.”

Given their recent attacking acquisitions, Liverpool would be more than willing to let go of Balotelli, who has one year left on his contract and has scored only two goals in his Liverpool career.
