Manchester United, Arsenal FC and AC Milan transfer target Zlatan Ibrahimovic in a recent interview said that his relationship with Louis van Gaal is ‘not good’, sparking rumors of an imminent move to the Red Devils.
The 33-year-old striker has worked under van Gaal during his time with Ajax, where the 63-year-old was technical director. Ibrahimovic has even criticized the Durch manager in his book I Am Zlatan.
No, that’s not good : Ibrahimovic on relationship with Van Gaal
The Paris Saint Germain striker has been linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes, with the Ligue 1 champions looking to cash in on the Swede, to fund moves for other targets. Speaking in an interview with Sports Illustrated, he said:
a No, that’s not good.
a He was a director in Ajax, and the way he is working is not the way I work.a
When quizzed if moving to Old Trafford would be a problem, the striker replied: “Big Problem”
The former FC Barcelona striker, also insisted that Van Gaal being the manager of Manchester United would not prevent him from moving there, however, he did warn that “a lot of fights might happen” if he indeed was to work under the Dutch manager.
a At the end, I think he is professional and I am professional. Whoever I work with, I never had this kind of problems, because at the end I need to do my job, he needs to do his job,a Ibrahimovic said.
a And I think a lot of fights would happen, but that’s something I like.a
Is Zlatan the ‘surprise’ signing that van Gaal had hinted about?
Earlier this week, the Red Devils manager sent the media into a frenzy, when he said that the club were in the process of signing a “surprise’ striker, with reports suggesting that the surprise striker could either be Thomas Muller, Fernando Llorente or Zlatan Ibrahimovic. However, the 63-year-old later insisted that he never mentioned the ‘surprise’ signing to be a striker. Arsenal FC are also reported to be interested in taking a punt on the 33-year-old.
The Swedish hit-man has been heavily linked with a move back to Serie A giants AC Milan, and earlier in another interview, when he was asked about where he future could possibly be, he had replied: “My future is in the hands of my agent, Mino Raiola.”
However, following the recent revelation of the relationship between the striker and Manchester United manager, one cannot help but think, that something might actually be brewing behind the scenes.
