PSG defender Marquinhos is pleased with transfer rumours linking him with a move to FC Barcelona in the summer.
The Brazilian international, who joined the French club last season, has produced some impressive performances in PSG’s title winning campaign. Marquinhos, who has been highly rated since his AS Roma days, made 17 starts in the league this season as he had to fight with Alex and Thiago Silva for a place in the starting line-up. The 20-year-old has drawn interest from a lot of clubs across Europe and now with PSG signing David Luiz from Chelsea, his future at the French club has come under speculation once again.
PSG will be aware of FFP regulations and will need to balance their book in the summer. Having spent a large amount of money of David Luiz’s transfer, they are likely to listen to offers for Marquinhos. Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Marquinhos in summer as they look to strengthen their defence following the retirement of Carles Puyol. The Catalan club were initially linked with Marquinhos’ team-mate Thiago Silva, but PSG are unwilling to part ways with the Brazilian international, which has made Barcelona consider other options like Marquinhos.
Marquinhos is happy to be linked with the Spanish giants and believes that this interest only indicates his fine progress as a footballer.
“If Barca are so interested in me, this is something that makes me very satisfied.
“It’s flattering as Barcelona are a club that have won all competitions in the world. But that aside, I can’t say anything else about Barca.” – The PSG defender said in an interview.
Marquinhos also insisted that he is pleased about the arrival of David Luiz and that his agent will talk with the club regarding his future.
“I think David Luiz made a good choice going to PSG.
“Now when I see the players that are coming, I realise it will be difficult. I’ll work even harder.
“I have a contract until June 2018. Let’s see, anyway, my agent will talk with the club about my future as this season is very important to me.” – He added.
