Tottenham Hotspur skipper Michael Dawson has distanced himself from the exit rumours linking him with Hull City, Crystal Palace, West Ham United, and QPR. Michael Dawson is looking forward to Spurs top 4 challenge under new head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Michael Dawson is the longest serving Tottenham Hotspur player and the club captain. Even though he is the skipper, new regimes has always questioned his suitability. He was on the verge on joining QPR when Andre Villas Boas took over the proceedings in 2012. Former Nottingham Forest defender decided to fight for his place and rejected the 9 million offer from West London. He reclaimed his starting spot from fellow competitors through grit, determination and hard work, which saw him adding 41 appearances to his name last season.

Michael Dawson is one of the committed professionals in football, and he gives his everything while on the pitch. Lack of pace is seen as a loop hole in the high line defence and that is one of the main reasons for this rumoured exit. He makes up for the lack pace with commitment, dedication and puts his body in the line of fire to save his team. Tottenham Hotspur skipper is passionate about the club and that is the reason why (for the second time) he has opted against a move out of White Hart Lane.

Michael Dawson was linked with a move to Harry Redknapp managed QPR along with Andros Townsend. Steven Bruce’s Hull City were keen on bringing the central defender to the KC Stadium along with Jake Livermore and Danny Rose. West Ham United and Crystal Palace were also looking for an opportunity to add Michael Dawson to their roster. All their hopes were quashed by the England Internationals latest comments and Spurs fans will be happy seeing the commitment and passion from their skipper.

Michael Dawson: “I have been at Tottenham for nine-and-a-half years. It is a great football club and I have loved every minute of it while I have been here. The fans have been superb to me since day one because I have had some ups and downs, like everyone does. The expectations are high and the players want to achieve them.”

Michael Dawson is looking forward to working under Mauricio Pochettino and he believes that the Argentine can lead Tottenham back to Top 4 and a place in UEFA Champions League.

“We want to be in the top four and hopefully next year we will have another push.”

Michael Dawson’s character, commitment and dedication is lacking in many players at White Hart Lane. He is a true leader of the squad, and the Spurs fans will be hoping that his physicality and aerial presence will come handy for Tottenham Hotspur in their Top 4 battle in the coming years.
