Liverpool are leading the chase for in-form Fiorentina attacker Juan Cuadrado according to reports.
The 25 year old winger is currently enjoying a red-hot form and has been on the radar of top clubs including Arsenal, Manchester United, Juventus, Tottenham and Bayern Munich. Barcelona too, have watched the player in the past.
Fiorentina recently rejected an offer for him from Juventus for the player. It has been said that the player would prefer a move to the Premier League.
It has now been reported that Liverpool’s manager, Brendan Rodgers is closing in on a £20m deal to snap up the player who is espeially known for his pace down the flanks.
Liverpool are currently leading the Premier League table but they don’t have two good wingers in their squad and have often deployed make-shift wide man when the need arose. Victor Moses, who was acquired from Chelsea on the temporary basis has failed to make an impact and Raheem Sterling is the only winger Liverpool have. Liverpool particularly need a left winger and Sterling prefers his role on the right.
Cuadrado has a total of 11 goals and eight assists for Fiorentina this season, capable of playing on both the left or right wing, and even as a wing back. He is, as mentioned before, a pacey winger and is menacing on the attack. He provides width to the attack and can link up well with the forwards for them to feed off his deliveries. He is an awe-worthy dribbler and it was reported in 2013, that he doubled the dribbling rate of Cristiano Ronaldo, per league game.
Cuadrado is jointly owned by Fiorentina and Udinese but both sides are reportedly ready to cash-in on the player, whose value is continously rising.
Manager Brendan Rodgers would be handed a good transfer kitty to sustain the work he has done this season into the next, especially with Liverpool playing in the Champions League and needing quality in their squad.
THT Verdict- A Possibility
Reports indicate Liverpool’s strong inclination in signing the superstar from the Serie A side. This would be a special signing as the Columbia international can directly fit into the starting lineup and could make sure that the club does not need to deploy players out of their positions. The left wing spot is pretty much an open spot on the Liverpool’s starting lineup and would be, almost definitely, filled in the summer. Cuadrado has been reported to prefer a move to the Premier League and Liverpool could be a strong temptation as the Reds have fared incredibly well this season and also because he is almost certainly going to get enough game time.
Liverpool should work hard on this deal and a sum up to £20m sounds reasonable.
