Liverpool FC have received a major boost in the form of striker Daniel Sturridge’s injury progress. The Reds could be boosted by the return of their striker quicker than expected, after the 24 year old came through an intensive solo training session on Monday

The England international missed Liverpool’s previous nine games after he was ruled out with an ankle injury. This would be incredible news for manager Brendan Rodgers as Sturridge might be deemed fit to play against Stoke on Sunday.

He passed an intensive outdoor session at Melwood on Monday and could return to full training with the rest of the squad provided he doesn’t suffer any reaction to his original injury.

The ex-Chelsea man has scored 9 goals for Liverpool in the Premier League this season. His last goal for the Reds was a header from a Steven Gerrard set piece which rescued Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby and leveled the score at 3-3.

With the squad looking increasingly thin over the last few games, Sturridge’s return would be as good as a new signing in the window.

Liverpool seem to be in pursuit of quality additions in the winter transfer window and it looks like the club will lock horns with Premier League side Swansea to lure Benfica winger Ola John.

The Dutch footballer has not got enough time on the pitch this season and it looks like he would be allowed to leave the club in the winter on a loan deal.

But to Liverpool’s dismay, de Boer looks keen to sign the 21 year old and get him to Ajax.

However, according to Dutch daily newspaper Algemeen Dagblad, Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool and his old club Swansea are both interested in acquiring the services of  Primeira Liga player.

While Ola John was instrumental for the club last season, featuring in 22 league matches after transferring from Twente, he has pretty much been reduced to the bench and has only made five substitute appearances in the league.
