Roberto Mancini is looking to add reinforcements and has reportedly targeted the Liverpool trio.
Media outlets in Italy believe Inter Milan are planning a transfer raid on Liverpool in the upcoming transfer window. Newly appointed manager Roberto Mancini is reportedly eyeing the services of three players who are facing uncertain futures at Anfield. Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio was in attendance to see Liverpool beat Leicester City on Tuesday night and it is believed they are interested in securing the services of Glen Johnson, Lucas Leiva and Fabio Borini.
At this moment the Nerazzurri do not have enough transfer budget to invest heavily in winter as they recently had to terminate the contract of previous manager Walter Mazzarri. It will be difficult for them to sign top players but still they are looking to strengthen the squad with loan deals. Fabio Borini who has struggled to cement his place in the starting lineup at Anfield is a genuine target for Mancini’s side. Their sporting director admitted Inter’s interest and is looking to make a move in Janaury.
In an interview to a television show, Ausilio said,”We have the honesty to think that in December if there are some evaluations to make, we’ll make them, with humility. Borini? He’s a player I like very much. But I’m not aware that Liverpool would give him on loan or within the financial conditions we need to follow.”
Glen Johnson is another player that Inter are trying to recruit to solve their defensive problems. Long term injuries to Jonathon and Danilo D’Ambrosio means that only Yuto Nagatomo is preferred as the right back. Johnson is out of contract next summer and seems unwilling to sign a new deal offered so far.
“There were minor talks at the end of last season but nothing I could accept or reject. I want to play for a club that wants me. I am not going to go crawling to anybody. The club know where I am and they know the situation.”
“It is not my business to talk to other clubs at the moment. I want to play my football, keep winning for Liverpool and I want to respect my contract and that is what I am willing to do.”
Inter Milan are also keeping tabs on Lucas Leiva in order to strengthen the midfield. Although recently Lucas has earned his place back in the starting 11 at Anfield, reports in Italy claim Inter are looking to add a quality central midfielder and Lucas seems the perfect choice for them at this moment.
