Atletico de Kolkata and FC Goa, played out a goalless draw in the first leg of their semi-final clash of Indian Super League. In an end to end match, both teams successfully nullified each other advances and shared the spoils of battle. Atletico de Kolkata, would have wanted to win their home fixture and advance into the second leg, away, with an advantage. However, fate did not smile on the Luis Garcia captained side, as FC Goa successfully thwarted all Kolkata attempts. Coach Antonio Habas, decided to see on the brighter side of things, and opportunistically said that a Draw is obviously better than a loss.

“We had a very good game today. We could not score, but we created a lot of chances to find our way to the final. I prefer today’s result because a draw is always better than a loss,” he said.

“It is very difficult to play without five regular players, so I am not at all disappointed with the result. I am happy with the performance of my team and with the result, I congratulate my players for the way they played this match.”

Habas, identifies the threat that FC Goa possesses and would look to mount a serious offense against the Zico masterminded side, when they play their second leg at Goa’s Fatorda Stadium for Indian Super League.

“It will be a very difficult match for both the teams, not only for us. Goa will also need to score in that match if they want to go through the final,”

Habas believes that Atletico de Kolkata, have to make it to the finals of the Indian Super League.

“We are not very worried about that. I guess as we started our campaign with a big win (3-0 over Mumbai City in the ISL’s opening match) it created a lot of expectations, but we obviously got enough goals to reach the semifinals and hopefully we will score enough to stay alive and make it to the final,”
