Arsene Wenger is after Serie A duo Mattia Destro and Marek Hamsik.

English meida claim Arsenal have revived their interest in Roma’s Mattia Destro while they are also weighing up a move for Napoli captain Marek Hamsik.Metro suggests that strike duo Lukas Podolski and Joel Campbell could be sacrificed to provide the funds for an expensive winter outlay. Arsene Wenger had already been linked with Destro many times in recent months, but the latest results are prompting a rethink. Destro, 23, is thought to be valued at 15 million pounds by Roma, though talks are reportedly already underway, with the striker repeatedly making references to his future lying away from Rome in recent months. As for Hamsik, 27, the paper reports Rafa Benitez could be tempted to let the playmaker leave Napoli for the right fee as he seeks to shuffle his pack. He was dropped on Sunday night for the crucial game against AC Milan.

The former Siena striker hinted he was unhappy at the current situation at the Stadio Olimpico.”Did I expect to play more? These are decisions made by the Coach, then obviously I have my own mind that I consider things with and slowly I’ll take decisions too.”

Speaking about the potential move to Arsenal last month, Mattia Destro said that: “Arsenal for me? The rumours are good, I’m happy for them. This is the proof that I’m doing my work well. There are so many things that I can improve on. I must never stop and continue to learn new things.”

The Slovakia international has endured a difficult 12 months with the club, to lead to continued suggestions that he may be available for sale at the right price. The player himself has always maintained that he is happy in Naples but the recent situation has thrown up plenty of questions.Last week when Hamsik was substituted during the Partenopei’s 2-2 draw with Empoli, he was whistled by the Neapolitan crowd. In addition, the player’s wife was reportedly insulted by a Napoli fan as she left the stadium. With the expected arrival of Manolo Gabbiadini from Sampdoria in January, the Slovakia international could be deemed surplus to requirements according to reports in Italy.

The sale of Hamsik could also help the club fund a move for Goran Pandev. The Macedonian striker is at Galatasaray, but has struggled to settle in Turkey after leaving Napoli in the summer to move to Istanbul. With the 31-year-old’s contract expiring in the summer, Pandev wouldn’t command a large fee, and is believed to be keen on a return to Naples.
