Real Madrid striker has put Arsenal and Manchester City on alert as he prepares to leave Spanish capital.

Madrid based sports daily Marca has reported today that: “Álvaro Morata looks almost certain to try to engineer a move away from Real Madrid. The striker decided back in January that he wants to leave behind ‘Los Blancos’ and find the game time which he has been denied over the past two seasons somewhere else.”

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is a big admirer of Alvaro Morata and has been tracking his development since long. Now, as the player himself is interested in departure, Arsenal are almost certain to make a move for him.

Arsenal only have Olivier Giroud as the true world class striker in their ranks at the moment and that was one of the important reasons why they failed in their title chase. Nicklas Bendtner is not regarded as Arsenal material by Wenger and he is expected to leave Emirates stadium this summer. Considering this in mind, Wenger is looking for new additions.

Manuel Pellegrini’s Manchester City are also said to be watching the young Spaniard. Edin Dzeko is expected to leave Etihad Stadium this summer and as his replacement, the Chilean coach is looking at Alvaro Morata

Current situation of Morata at Real Madrid is not very encouraging as he is behind Karim Benzema in the pecking order. Recent reports have suggested that Real are ready to move for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez which will put him further down the selection line. Morata is aware of these facts and hence, he has decided to pack his bags.

Marca reports that: “Morata, who has the best goal scoring average in the Real Madrid squad, knows that his contract with the club expires next season and Real will have to tie him down before opening the doors for his departure in the form of a loan or a transfer with a buy-back clause. The home-grown player looks set to wind up playing Premier League football.”

However, it is still not clear whether Real Madrid are ready to off load Morata. Real president Florentino Perez is quite content on getting Luis Suarez. And if Real become successful in their chase, which they often do, club management is most likely to sell Karim Benzema and not Alvaro Morata as the Frenchman can fetch more transfer value.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are also said to be interested in Karim Benzema too. Arsene Wenger is resolute to end the long running chase of world class striker as he prepares to make serious title bid next season. Wenger is reported to be interested in Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic as well. Bayern are ready to listen to the offers for Mandzukic as they have already signed Robert Lewandowski from Borussia Dortmund and he is going to spearhead their attack by replacing Mandzukic.
