66. Uga Okpara signs one year extension with East Bengal

East Bengal central defender Uga Okpara had a good campaign with the meanest defence in I-League. Negotiations for a contract extension was running for a while now and finally Kolkata giants has secured Nigerian defender’s services for one more year. Even amidst the chaos created by Chit fund scams, East Bengal has done well to hold on to their best players. Securing Okpara, after agreeing terms with Chidi Edeh is surely going to boost the Red and Gold supporters across the continent.

67. ONGC defender Wahid Sali attracting interest from Mohun Bagan and Churchill Brothers.

Kerala born defender Wahid Sali was one of the stellar performers for ONGC in I-League 12/13 season and it was rumoured to believe that there were many clubs chasing his signature including Mohammedans, Mohun Bagan and Churchill Brothers. Mohun Bagan was in the driving seat to secure the attacking right back, who is known for his well timed overlapping runs and crosses into the box. Wahid possess good defensive sense and the pace to cover the entire flank which will be a good addition to the Mariners. Churchill Brothers are also hopeful of securing the deal and the defender is becoming a hot property in the transfer window day by day. Mohun Bagan right back Nirmal Chettri has been offered a reduced deal while Denzil Franco is likely to continue in Churchill Brothers. So the chances of more playing time with Mohun Bagan might have big say in his future.

68. Mohun Bagan releases striker Tolgay Ozbey

Tolgay Ozbey couldn’t find his feet after moving across Kolkata in an injury affected season. It is reported that Mohun Bagan decided to terminate his services after agreeing the compensation which is rumoured to be quite a huge amount. The signing of Katsumi Yusa in Asian Quota was a clear indication of the upcoming  departure and James Moga is heading the list to fill the strikers position for Kolkata giants.

69. Henry Antouchet will stay with Churchill Brothers for one more season.

Churchill Brothers top scorer Henry Antouchet has signed a contract extension to stay with the I-League champions for one more season. Gabon International had scored 14 goals in last years campaign and will be looking to add more to his tally in the upcoming campaign. Churchill Brothers has done well to secure his extension after losing Beto to Dempo earlier.

70. Mohammedans Sporting signs former Air India duo

Salgaocar’s left back Collin Abranches and ONGC midfielder Sandeep Sangha are he latest players to join Mohammedan Sporting Club rosters. The Black Panthers have been very lively in the market following their promotion and have secured a number of players for I-League 13/14 already. One of the old powerhouses of Indian Football, Mohammedans SC are trying to make an impact and are planning for a long I-League journey. Hopes are high for the former Air India duo with Mohammedans trying to mark their mark in I-League.
