81. East Bengal releases striker Robin Singh.

Kolkata giants East Bengal has decided to part ways with misfiring striker Robin Singh. Robin Singh had a poor campaign last season which is reflected by his goal tally of 3. The problematic striker is still in demand even after his release from East Bengal and it is rumoured to believe that Churchill Brothers, Salgaocar SC and Dempo SC are chasing his signature. Even though some quarters rates the Indian International very highly for footballing abilities, he needs massive improvement with his first touch to succeed in top level. He still remains an unpredictable player, but the interest in him is bound to increase due to the lack of quality strikers.

THT Verdict – Confirmed.

82. Karim Bencharifa has agreed to lead Mohun Bagan’s charge next season

Mohun Bagan AC Coach Karim Bencharifa has agreed to continue with the club on a reduced salary for next season. The Moroccan coach, had done reasonably well to revive the team after their poor start and Kolkata derby melee. In the middle of a financial crisis, it will be a welcome news for Mohun Bagan officials as Bencharifa has agreed in principal for a reduced deal. The coach need to get the mariners back on track with not less than a title challenge next season as their large fan base had a disappointing year last time.

THT Verdict – Likely.

83. Sporting Club de Goa midfielder Pratesh Shirodkar is a target of Mohun Bagan

Mohun Bagan had identified their midfield as one of the weak spots and are trying to rope in quality Indian players to help their case. After the departure of Jewel Raja Sheikh, they are counting their money on Nicholas Rodriguez and Pratesh Shirdokar. Sporting Club de Goa midfielder Pratesh Shirodkar was impressive in last year’s I-League campaign.  24-year old midfielder played a vital role in Sporting’s revival in new year and he is a bright prospect for the future as well. He had appeared 24 times for the flaming orange’s last time around and will consider the move to Mohun Bagan as a step up in his ambitious career.

THT Verdict – Possible.

84. Prayag United SC confirms the following players for next season.

1. Lalkamal Bhowmick
2. Sangram Mukherjee
3. Deepak Mondal
4. Anupam Sarkar
5. Mohd. Rafique

Even amidst the financial turmoil surrounding the chit fund scams, the Kolkata based club has confirmed the following players for next season. The big spenders from last season is struggling for money and they couldn’t reach an agreement with Ranti Martins, Gaurmangi Singh and Subrata Pal due to their financial constraints. Still they have done well to tie down a number of players on a reduced contract. Lalkamal Bhowmick was one of their unsung heroes in last years campaign and it will be huge boost to the whole team.

THT Verdict – Confirmed.

85. Dempo releases foreign recruits Koko Sakibo and Johny Meyongar.

Dempo SC has decided to part ways with their unimpressive foreign recruits Koko Sakibo and Johny Meyongar. Much was expected from the Nigerian Koko Sakibo before the previous campaign, but he finished with just 6 goals in the whole I-League campaign. Johny Meyongar was signed from Shillong Lajong in winter to address their striking woes, but the Liberian striker also failed miserably to find a solution. THT Source revealed to us that Dempo SC has decided to part ways with both the players along with back up goalkeeper Regan Juliao to prepare for the Arthur Papas Era. Dempo SC is linked with a host of A-League players to fill their foreign quota and Papas’s in-depth knowledge will come in handy there.

THT Verdict – Confirmed.
