Borussia Dortmund have secured the services of another super-talent from Manchester City, in the form of Jayden Braaf.

In an official statement, Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the capture of yet another Manchester City prodigy in Jayden Braaf. The youngster is set to join the Bundesliga giants on a free transfer, signing a contract until June 2025.

Manchester City to Borussia Dortmund has become quite a popular route lately for emerging talents. Jadon Sancho’s rapid rise to prominence in the Bundesliga has already been well documented. But most recently, another ex-Manchester City youth player Jamie Bynoe-Gittens is also making waves in the Dortmund first-team.

In Jayden Braaf, the Bundesliga giants are aiming to unearth another hidden gem from the Manchester City academy. A native of Amsterdam, Braaf was regarded as one of the most talented young Dutch players when he joined the Manchester City academy in 2018.

Over the past four years, the explosive winger has made a solid impression with his speed and trickery out wide. Braaf’s ability to drift infield has also led to comparisons with fellow Dutchman Arjen Robben.

Braaf, though, failed to break into the Manchester City senior side, and had a rather disappointing loan spell at Udinese during the second half of the 2020/21 campaign, making four Serie A appearances. But with his move to Dortmund, he is hoping to make an impression in the Bundesliga next season.

The 19-year-old prodigy currently plies his trade with Manchester City’s reserve side. However, he can hope to become a part of Dortmund’s senior squad for the upcoming season. From a sporting perspective, he will be expected to compete with the likes of Marius Wolf, Thorgan Hazard and fellow Dutchman Donyell Malen for a place in the starting eleven.

Given the fact that Hazard has struggled for prominence and the likes of Giovanni Reyna have had issues with injury, Braaf has an excellent opportunity to make a breakthrough under the leadership of Edin Terzic – a coach known for his ability to nurture young talents.

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed Braaf has joined the club on a free transfer, and Manchester City have no option to re-sign through buy-back clauses. It serves as an excellent opportunity for the Bundesliga giants to unearth yet another talent and possibly make a large profit out of the deal in the coming years.
