Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly closely monitoring the progress of 21-year-old Egyptian attacker Ibrahim Adel, dubbed the “new Salah”.

According to a report by 90 min, Ibrahim Adel is the subject of interest from Liverpool over a possible move in a future transfer window. The 21-year-old attacker, dubbed the “new Salah” in his homeland, also features on the radars of several other clubs, including Arsenal.

Ibrahim Adel has spent his entire career thus far in Egypt, spending most of his formative years with El Merreikh before joining Pyramids FC in 2018. The young attacker rose through the ranks rapidly at the Egyptian club before breaking into the first-team setup as a prodigious teenager a few years ago.

Adel has come leaps and bounds since then, establishing himself as a pivotal figure for Pyramids FC, amassing 22 goals and nine assists in 78 appearances thus far. The 21-year-old’s exploits at the club level have helped him break into the Egyptian national side while drawing comparisons with a certain Mohamed Salah. And his progress has alerted Arsenal and Liverpool.

Arsenal and Liverpool seem to be in the market for a wide attacker, with the two Premier League bigwigs also showing interest in Marco Asensio. Alex Baena is another mutual target for Arsenal and Liverpool, with Adel now emerging on the two clubs’ radar.

The interest from Arsenal is surprising, considering they bolstered their wide-attacking options this past summer by signing Marquinhos. With Gabriel Martinelli, Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka also at Mikel Arteta’s disposal, the Gunners do not need another wide attacker.

On the other hand, Liverpool might need to invest in a winger after failing to sign a like-for-like replacement for Sadio Mane. And with Mohamed Salah on the wrong side of 30, bringing in a potential long-term solution in Adel might benefit Liverpool in the years to come.

Apart from Arsenal and Liverpool, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Nottingham Forest have also been keeping tabs on Adel. And it will be interesting to see if his exploits compel any of the several Premier League clubs to launch the offensive for the 21-year-old Egyptian attacker.
