Newcastle United are eyeing a late move for Youri Tielemans, who is reportedly available for the right price.

According to Mail Online, Newcastle United are exploring signing Youri Tielemans before the transfer deadline. The Belgian midfielder remains heavily linked with Arsenal during the summer, as Leicester City are ready to cash in at the right price.

Newcastle United are still in the market for a few players that would improve Eddie Howe’s squad. The Magpies have sufficiently strengthened the team during this window, but the manager feels the need to bring in a new midfielder, possibly two before the deadline.

The primary necessity is a defensive midfielder, with the Magpies being linked with several names so late in the window. Leander Dendoncker’s name stands out among the targets, including Tiemoue Bakayoko.

However, with an opportunity in sight with regards to Youri Tielemans, Newcastle United are exploring the idea of bringing the Belgian before Thursday’s transfer deadline. Any move for the midfielder could be complicated for the Magpies, considering there’s one other club in the mix.

Arsenal were expected to make a move for Tielemans before the transfer deadline, as Mikel Arteta continues to look for options in midfield. In light of recent injuries to Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny, the Gunners are short in the position, which may have accelerated their need for a new player.

Tielemans reportedly had his sights on the move to Arsenal, but so far, the Gunners have not presented with a formal offer. With the impasse between the Gunners and Tielemans, Newcastle United is exploring the opportunity to bring the Belgian before tomorrow.

The Magpies are yet to make an offer, although, with a year left on his current contract, Leicester will likely be looking to cash in. However, they hope any forthcoming offer comes closer to their asking price, which could be between £30-35 million.

Whether Newcastle United end up signing the midfielder before Thursday’s deadline remains to be seen. However, if Arsenal make their intent clear and come up with an approach, then Tielemans might choose to join Arteta’s side and snub an offer from Howe’s team.
