Fulham have reportedly been linked with a move for former Tottenham striker Carlos Vinicius.

According to Dan Kilpatrick of the London Evening Standard, Fulham are looking to sign 27-year-old Brazilian striker Carlos Vinicius before the summer transfer window closes, and he could end up making his debut against former club Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

The Brazilian striker was on loan at PSV Eindhoven last season, and he managed to chip in with seven goals and seven assists across all competitions. Vinicius has clearly fallen out of favour at Benfica, and the Portuguese outfit are looking to part ways with him. It will be interesting to see if they can agree on a deal with Fulham before the transfer window closes.

Fulham have made an impressive start to the Premier League campaign, and they will look to give themselves the best chance of beating the drop this season. Fulham are currently overly reliant on Aleksandar Mitrovic for goals, and bringing in another striker could prove to be a wise decision.

Although Vinicius is not a prolific goalscorer by any stretch of the imagination, he could be a useful alternative to Mitrovic throughout the season. Recently, Fulham have seen a move for Justin Kluivert collapse at the last minute.

The Brazilian striker has had a previous loan spell at Tottenham, and he will know all about English football. It is fair to assume that the 27-year-old could find it easier to settle in and make an immediate impact at Fulham if the move goes through.

During his loan spell at Tottenham, the Brazilian managed to score ten goals in 22 appearances, and a similar tally at Fulham would be seen as a success. It remains to be seen whether Fulham and Benfica can agree on a reasonable price now.

The Brazilian will be a free agent next summer, and therefore it is fair to assume that any move would have to be a permanent one. Benfica will not want to loan Vinicius this summer only to lose them for free next year.

That said, his contract situation and recent form should help Fulham sign him for a knockdown price. According to the Portuguese outlet Record, the move is expected to cost Fulham a sum of around £9.5 million.
