Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly agreed to a £13 million deal for Belgian midfielder Leander Dendoncker.

According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers have reached an agreement over a £13 million deal for Leander Dendoncker. The Belgian midfielder will soon undergo a medical to complete a move across the Premier League before the transfer deadline.

Leander Dendoncker spent his formative years in Belgium before graduating from the Anderlecht academy nearly a decade ago. The 27-year-old spent half a dozen years at Anderlecht before moving to the Premier League by joining Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan in August 2018.

Wolves then signed Dendoncker permanently a year later, and he has turned out over 150 times for the Black Country outfit during his stint at the Molineux. But the Belgian midfielder has fallen down the pecking order in the past year and wants to embark on a new adventure this summer. That will now happen at Aston Villa.

Several Premier League clubs showed interest in Dendoncker, including Everton. Intermediaries also offered Newcastle United a chance to sign him. But the Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder is now set to join Aston Villa instead, with the Villans moving quickly to secure the services of the 27-year-old.

Aston Villa might soon lose Douglas Luiz after Arsenal submitted an offer to sign the Brazilian midfielder. Luiz has reportedly agreed on personal terms with the Premier League leaders, and his departure will leave Aston Villa short of quality options in the middle of the park.

Dendoncker thus emerged as a viable target for Aston Villa, who will raid their neighbours to bolster their midfield unit. And according to Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa will sign the Belgian international from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a deal worth £13 million before the summer transfer window shuts down in a few hours.

Dendoncker is scheduled to undergo a medical in the afternoon, and his next adventure in the Premier League will likely be at Aston Villa. It will be interesting to see if the 27-year-old resurrects his fortunes by leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers and joining Aston Villa in a £13 million deal.
