Aston Villa are reportedly keen on signing Brazilian winger Lucas Maura from Tottenham Hotspur before the transfer deadline.

According to a report from talkSPORT, Aston Villa have made an enquiry about Lucas Moura, and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to sanction his departure. The Brazilian international has fallen down the pecking order at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and Aston Villa are prepared to provide him with an exit route.

Moura is already behind the likes of Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski in the pecking order, and Spurs are reportedly interested in signing Daniel James from Leeds United. The 24-year-old’s arrival will push the Brazilian winger further down the pecking order at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and Moura needs to look for a move in order to resurrect his career.

Aston Villa could definitely use more depth and quality in their attack, and Moura could prove to be a quality acquisition for them. The Tottenham outcast has proven himself in the Premier League before, and he will be hungry to showcase his qualities after being starved of game time at Spurs.

Aston Villa will not only be getting a quality player in terms of ability, but Moura is also likely to be determined to succeed at Villa Park after falling down the pecking order at Tottenham. Furthermore, he is well settled in English football and is likely to make an immediate impact.

It will be interesting to see if Aston Villa are willing to pay up handsomely for his services this summer. Alternatively, a loan deal might be on the cards as well. Lucas Moura is in desperate need of game time, and he will hope that a move away from Tottenham will help him get his career back on track, especially in the World Cup year.

Steven Gerrard’s side have been abysmal the season, losing four of their five Premier League matches. Aston Villa need new signings to freshen up the squad, and someone like Moura could have a positive impact on the fan base as well as the dressing room. The 30-year-old winger has 38 goals in 204 appearances across all competitions for Tottenham.
