English giants Manchester United have reportedly approached Chelsea target and Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang over a late move.

According to reputed Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remains on Manchester United’s radar over a possible late move in the ongoing transfer window. The Barcelona forward is also a target for Chelsea, with the two Premier League heavyweights set to clash for him in the final days of the summer.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has done well to find a stable footing in his career again after reaching rock bottom at Arsenal in the first half of the 2021/22 season. A former Arsenal captain, the 33-year-old saw his form nosedive before Mikel Arteta banished him from the first-team squad due to a few run-ins.

But Aubameyang was a solid addition for Barcelona as he finished the campaign as their joint top scorer despite playing only 23 games. However, his stature has dropped at Camp Nou following Robert Lewandowski’s arrival, with the Pole now the first-choice striker for Barcelona. Such a situation has captured the attention of Manchester United and Chelsea.

The interest from Manchester United stems from the rampant uncertainties surrounding the future of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese international continues to look for ways to depart from Old Trafford, compelling Manchester United to remain in the market for a striker.

But while Aubameyang is a viable target for Manchester United, the Barcelona forward does not want to join the Red Devils. However, that is not stopping Manchester United from making a new approach for the veteran striker, especially with Chelsea yet to get any closer to securing his services.

Chelsea recently submitted what might be their final offer to sign Aubameyang from Barcelona. The Blues have been eagerly pursuing the Barcelona striker for several weeks but to no avail, with Barcelona yet to accept any of their bids. But with Chelsea also desperate to sign a striker before the transfer deadline, they might not throw in the towel yet.

It will be interesting to see how Barcelona and Aubameyang respond to Manchester United’s latest approach. For now, the former Arsenal captain continues to face an uncertain future at Camp Nou amid interest from the Red Devils and Chelsea.
