Everton are reportedly considering a move for Bournemouth winger Jaidon Anthony as a possible replacement for Chelsea-bound Anthony Gordon.

According to the Evening StandardEverton are working on replacements for Anthony Gordon and are keen on a move for Bournemouth attacker Jaidon Anthony. The report adds that the 22-year-old’s future at Dean Court is uncertain as he is in the final year of his contract.

Everton are gearing up for a hectic end to the summer transfer window. The Toffees have recently announced the signing of striker Neal Maupay from Brighton & Hove Albion, and a move for Blackburn Rovers’ attacker Ben Brereton Diaz is also in the pipeline.

In addition, Everton starlet Anthony Gordon appears to be on his way to Chelsea for a deal worth up to £60 million before next Thursday’s transfer deadline. It is understood that though Everton are reluctant to sell their star winger and have already rejected two bids from Chelsea worth up to £45 million, they may be forced to due to their financial situation.

Also, Gordon has informed Everton that he wants the move. And while Everton boss Frank Lampard has claimed that the 21-year-old’s Goodison Park departure is simply not on the cards, the Toffees are already lining up replacements. As such, they have set their sights on Jaidon Anthony, who, as it stands, has one year left on his deal with Bournemouth, with extension talks stalled.

A product of the Bournemouth academy, the 22-year-old enjoyed a stellar breakthrough season last term, playing 45 of the Cherries’ 46 Championship games, recording eight goals and six assists in the process, as they secured promotion in emphatic fashion from the Championship.

Anthony has been an unused replacement against Aston Villa and Manchester City this season but earned his Premier League debut against Arsenal last weekend. And the 22-year-old English attacker features firmly in Scott Parker’s first-team plans moving forward.

Nottingham Forest are thought to be a potential destination for Anthony, and they had a bid turned down by Bournemouth earlier this summer. Now, Everton are set to go head-to-head with Forest for the signature of the English attacker, having identified him as a replacement for the outgoing Anthony Gordon.

The Toffees desperately need to bolster their attacking options and add further depth. Given how little time is remaining in the transfer window, it makes perfect sense for Everton to sign a player with huge potential for a modest fee rather than an established star on big wages and an exorbitant transfer fee.

Dwight McNeil has proven to be a steady operator at the top level and is more than capable of filling Gordon’s potential void. In that way, Everton can allocate more funds to fix other pressing areas, considering they have yet to find a proper replacement for Richarlison. Jaidon Anthony to Everton is certainly a rumour worth keeping tabs on as we approach the end of the transfer window.
