Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer, with AC Milan reportedly interested in him.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Trevoh Chalobah is looking for regular game time in the 2022/23 season. And the likes of Inter Milan and RB Leipzig are looking to secure his services before the window closes. AC Milan could join the race as well.

Furthermore, Romano adds that the defender will only leave Chelsea if they sign Wesley Fofana from Leicester City. The young French defender has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea have not been able to agree on a fee with the Foxes yet.

Chalobah managed to break into the Chelsea first-team setup under Thomas Tuchel last season, but he has struggled to hold down a regular starting berth. The youngster is highly rated at Stamford Bridge, and he has a massive future ahead of him. However, he needs to play more often to continue this development and fulfil his tremendous potential.

If Chelsea cannot offer him regular game-time this season, a loan move could be ideal for the player’s development. The likes of Inter Milan, AC Milan and RB Leipzig can provide him with the platform he needs right now.

It seems that Chalobah and Chelsea will make a final decision on his future after Friday, and it remains to be seen how the pursuit of Fofana unfolds over the next few days.

Chelsea are in desperate need of defensive reinforcement after the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen. The Blues have already replaced Rudiger with the signing of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, but they are yet to find an alternative to Christensen.

Fofana has proven his quality in the Premier League, and there is no doubt that he would be a quality long-term acquisition for Chelsea. It remains to be seen whether the Blues can convince Leicester to part with their prized asset this late in the window.

As for Chalobah, the youngster can operate as a full-back as well as a centre-back. His versatility will be an asset for any club he joins. Chelsea will be hoping that he can return as an improved player next season if they were to send him out on loan to AC Milan, Inter or Leipzig.

Meanwhile, the Blues have been linked with a move for AC Milan forward Rafael Leao. And it will be interesting to see if Chelsea try to use Chalobah in a deal to lure the Portuguese international to Stamford Bridge. With AC Milan yet to replace former captain Alessio Romagnoli, Chalobah might be a solid acquisition, especially considering Fikayo Tomori’s success at San Siro.
