Manchester United are preparing a new offer to land 22-year-old Ajax Amsterdam attacker Antony this weekend.

According to Sky Sports presenter, Dharmesh Sheth on Twitter, Premier League giants Manchester United are ready to make a fresh offer for 22-year-old Ajax Amsterdam attacker Antony as the 2022 summer transfer window draws to a close.

The Red Devils hired Erik ten Hag to rebuild their side and take them back to the pinnacle of European football. The Dutchman is well acquainted with Antony, having managed the Brazilian international during his time at Ajax. One of the Eredivisie’s dynamic young stars, Antony has what it takes to develop into a top-tier attacker.

Manchester United have been after Antony all summer and have been subjected to failed transfer bids. Ajax’s asking price has been something that the Red Devils have been unable to meet so far. It could all change as we enter the final few days of the 2022 summer transfer window.

Primarily a right-winger, Antony is also capable of doing a job on the other flank. Manchester United already have Jadon Sancho in their ranks, and signing the Brazilian attacker could see them deploy both players in tandem or on both flanks, at the same time. At 22, Antony has already shown what he is capable of and could be set to break out in a big way.

Manchester United are now keen to have another go at landing the Brazilian international. In what is described as a ‘massive offer’, it could all depend on whether Ajax are willing to play game. The Dutch giants have lost several top players this summer and have recently professed their intent to keep Antony at the club for the 2022/23 campaign.

Money, however, talks in football, and the onus is on Manchester United to make Ajax an offer they cannot refuse. The player, for his part, remains unconvinced by the prospect of moving to Old Trafford, and given the club’s struggles of late, it is understandable. The Red Devils are not the force of old and have a long and hard road to navigate if they are serious about getting back on the perch.

Signing Antony would be a statement by Manchester United, but unless ten Hag can make it work, he could join a long line of players who have fallen flat after moving to Old Trafford. The 22-year-old Brazilian attacker has the minerals to be a world-class player, and taking a risk by moving to Manchester United might not be the best move, especially as Real Madrid might offer a big move next year.
