West Ham United have reportedly reached an agreement with PSG to sign Thilo Kehrer in a deal worth £10.1 million.

According to Sky Sports, West Ham United are closing in on the capture of another defender in the ongoing transfer window after they reached a full agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for the signing of Thilo Kehrer. The German international is already in London to complete his medical and finalise his contract details.

Kehrer burst onto the scenes at boyhood club FC Schalke 04 before earning a big move to PSG in the summer of 2018. While he has not always been a permanent fixture in the starting XI at Parc des Princes, the 25-year-old has been a largely reliable performer when called upon, making 128 appearances for the Parisian giants so far.

Kehrer, though, has fallen down the pecking order at PSG and with his contract expiring next year, the Ligue 1 champions were looking for suitors for the defender this summer. And West Ham United have seemingly pounced on the opportunity to sign the 25-year-old German ace, who can play at centre-back or right-back.

West Ham United were in need of urgent defensive reinforcements after an injury to new signing Nayef Aguerd. With Angelo Ogbonna still not fully fit after his long-term knee injury and Craig Dawson also struggling with fitness problems, David Moyes has been left with only Kurt Zouma as his fit senior centre-back.

West Ham were forced to deploy Ben Johnson as Zouma’s partner in their first two matches of the Premier League this season, with both games ending in defeats. Hence, the east London outfit were intent on bringing in another centre-half at the earliest to resolve their issues and seem to have done just that with Kehrer’s arrival now all but done.

Having entered into talks with PSG, West Ham United have now struck an agreement over a deal worth £10.1 million (€12 million) to land Kehrer. The defender is already believed to have flown to London to finalise personal terms and complete his medicals before the transfer can be made official.

Sevilla were also keen on signing Kehrer from Sevilla, but the German international seems set for a switch to the Premier League. West Ham United are hoping to have Kehrer available for their UEFA Europan Conference League qualifier against Viborg on Thursday.
