Chelsea could offer out-of-favour striker Michy Batshuayi in their bid to sign Everton prodigy Anthony Gordon.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri on Twitter, Premier League side Everton are ready to offer Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi in part exchange to land Everton youngster Anthony Gordon this summer.

The Belgian is not in favour at Stamford Bridge and does not appear to have a future at the club under Thomas Tuchel. With just a year to go on his current deal, the time is now for the Blues to part ways with him.

Chelsea are undergoing a summer revamp and have lost Timo Werner to RB Leipzig and Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan (on loan). Kai Havertz and Armando Broja are the club’s lone options upfront at the moment. While they have added Raheem Sterling to bolster the attack, another wide player could be a welcome addition as Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi are staring at uncertain futures at the Bridge.

One of the players on Chelsea’s wishlist is Gordon, who enjoyed a promising breakout season at Goodison Park in 2021/22. The young Englishman played a key role in Frank Lampard’s side as they staved off relegation at the expense of Burnley. With Richarlison gone and Dominic Calvert-Lewin injured, Gordon started the campaign as the Toffees’ attacking lynchpin.

Chelsea are keen to bring him to Stamford Bridge and have already had a £40 million bid turned down for him. The Blues could yet return with an improved offer and can also offer players such as Batshuayi in exchange. Doing so will not just give Everton a decent transfer fee but also a readymade replacement for Gordon to lead the attack.

Batshuayi will also be keen to play regularly, especially with the FIFA World Cup set to take place later this year. At 28, he still has a few good years left in him and has what it takes to thrive for a mid-table side. He is also far more experienced than Gordon and will add steel to Frank Lampard’s side.

Having lost their first two games, Everton are likely to endure another relegation dogfight this season and will need all the help they can get. The player, for his part, appears ready to leave Goodison Park this summer. The Blues are in touch with the player’s representatives and appear to have struck a chord with the youngster.

Gordon is also yet to sign a contract extension on the table in what could be a hint as to where his future lies. The Toffees value the 21-year-old at £50 million, a price that Chelsea appears unwilling to fork out. Adding Batshuayi could lower the price, making a deal tenable for both parties.

Lampard had earlier shown interest in Billy Gilmour and Conor Gallagher and it remains to be seen if he will take advantage of negotiations to push for a deal for either midfielder. With the transfer window set to shut in half a month, time is running out for both parties to reach an agreement.
