Barcelona forward Memphis Depay is reportedly closing in on completing a move to Serie A club Juventus in the ongoing transfer window.

According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Memphis Depay is closing in on completing a summer move to Juventus to bring an end to his one-year stay at Barcelona. The Netherlands international has fallen down the pecking order at the Catalan club and is set to leave after just a year at Camp Nou.

Memphis Depay moved to Barcelona last summer in a free transfer from Lyon and even took a pay cut to complete what was a dream move for the former Manchester United star. He started well in Spain, leading the club’s attack for the first half of the season before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ferran Torres were signed in January.

Depay fell down the pecking order and now looks set to depart from Barcelona. The arrivals of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha have also pushed him out of contention for a spot in Xavi Hernandez’s starting lineups, and he is thus eager to move on from Camp Nou now.

The likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United were also said to be showing interest in signing the Dutch attacker, but the Serie A giants were quick to make a move and are now favourites to sign him.

Juventus are currently in discussion with Depay’s entourage to discuss a summer move, but nothing has been finalised yet. As per Romano, a possible two-year contract is being discussed between the Barcelona forward and the Serie A giants. And the involved parties are currently waiting for the official documents to be produced in the coming days.

Tottenham Hotspur are not in the race, as per Fabrizio Romano, leaving Juventus with a free run to complete the 28-year-old’s signature. The Serie A bigwigs have also signed Angel Di Maria on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, and the Argentine could contend with the Barcelona attacker for a starting spot.

Memphis Depay has played 36 matches for Barcelona across all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing two assists. The Serie A giants will hope that the Dutchman can produce something similar in Turin as well.
