Leicester City will reportedly let Wesley Fofana leave the club if Chelsea are ready to pay their final asking price for the French defender.

According to Foot Mercato, Leicester City are willing to sanction the sale of Wesley Fofana to Chelsea if the London giants agree to pay their €95 million asking price. The Foxes have already rejected a few offers from the Blues in recent weeks, but the deal could be edging towards a conclusion.

Wesley Fofana emerged as the top defensive target for Chelsea a few weeks ago, and the London outfit have been relentless in their pursuit of the Frenchman. Negotiations with Leicester City have proved exceedingly difficult for Thomas Tuchel’s side, who have been hoping to find a resolution.

Leicester rejected Chelsea’s last offer, as they are seeking a higher fee for the young French centre-back. Reports suggest the Foxes want another world record bid from the Blues to part ways with Fofana, valuing Fofana at around €95 million.

The Foxes have not made any notable signings in the summer transfer window, and allowing Fofana out of the club on a mega deal will ensure they have funds for late activity in the market. The most recent update on the Fofana pursuit suggested Chelsea were close to finding an agreement, which might be true.

Leicester City are reportedly willing to allow the defender to leave if Chelsea come up with a bid worth €95 million, which would shatter the previous transfer record for a centre-back. Incidentally, Manchester United paid around that price for former Leicester City star Harry Maguire.

Chelsea have previously indicated they might be willing to pay that price, ensuring the deal edges closer to a conclusion. If and when he join Chelsea, Fofana will become their third major defensive arrival of this window, after Marc Cucurella and Kalidou Koulibaly.

As things stand, negotiations are continuing between the two clubs, and Fofana is keen on moving to Stamford Bridge. The 21-year-old went through an injury-hit season after sitting out for major parts of the campaign due to a problem suffered in pre-season last summer.

Fofana did play 12 games in the latter part of last season in all competitions, and despite his recent fitness issues, Chelsea are keen to bring him in a big move, possibly worth around €95 million.
