Barcelona and Manchester City have reportedly reached an agreement for Bernardo Silva, who will move to Camp Nou in a deal worth around €60 million.

According to reputed Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, Bernardo Silva is closing in on completing his desired move to Manchester City in the ongoing transfer window. Barcelona and Manchester City have reached an agreement over a deal for the Portuguese playmaker, who will cost around €60 million.

Bernardo Silva is in the form of his life, with his performances helping Manchester City pip Liverpool to the Premier League title in the 2021/22 season. The 28-year-old scripted a brilliant turnaround in fortunes in the most recent campaign, as he became a pivotal figure for the Citizens.

But the Portuguese playmaker feels he has reached the end of the line at Manchester City and is looking to secure a move away from the Etihad in the ongoing transfer window. Such a situation has alerted Barcelona, with Silva keen on joining the Blaugrana this summer.

Barcelona will look to bring Silva to Camp Nou as a replacement for Frenkie de Jong, who they want to offload this summer to balance their books, reduce the wage bill and register new signings. Even though Joan Laporta and Xavi Hernandez have insisted that the Dutchman is not going anywhere, widespread reports suggest he has no future at the Catalan club.

Meanwhile, Barcelona recently initiated contact with Manchester City for Silva and seem to be ramping up their efforts to prise the 28-year-old playmaker away from the Etihad. Silva himself has given the green light to join Barcelona, with personal terms unlikely to pose a problem for the Blaugrana.

As for Manchester City, the Premier League champions have been defiant in the face of Barcelona’s interest, although Pep Guardiola recently admitted that Silva could depart from the Etihad in the ongoing transfer window. Now, though, the standoff between Barcelona and Manchester City seems to have ended, with Gerard Romero claiming the two parties have agreed to a deal of around €60 million.

It will be interesting to see if Gerard Romero’s claims are indeed correct, as they have been for most of the summer transfer window. If they are then Silva will get his desired move to Barcelona, with Manchester City losing a top-class playmaker.
