West Ham United are reportedly keen on signing Ibrahim Sangare, even though the defensive midfielder has signed a new contract with PSV Eindhoven.

According to Foot Mercato, West Ham United are keen on bringing Ibrahim Sangare to the London Stadium, as David Moyes remains eager to strengthen his side for the new campaign. A defensive midfielder is considered vital for their style, but the Hammers have faced difficulties pursuing preferred targets.

West Ham United may have made some decent signings in the summer transfer window, adding quality to the existing side. Without many departures, David Moyes has an entire squad of players from the previous campaign, and the new players only elevate their level.

After signing Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo, Moyes will switch his attention toward midfield, where there are issues at the moment. West Ham certainly do not lack quality, with Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice holding the positions in the central zone.

Adding another midfielder will help Moyes with different options while allowing Rice to occupy a free role in midfield. The Hammers have reportedly revived their interest in Ibrahim Sangare, even though the 24-year-old Ivory Coast international signed a new long-term contract with PSV Eindhoven last week.

The new deal has not deterred West Ham’s hopes, as they will likely pursue the Ivorian midfielder in the coming days. PSV will probably demand more than their previously set asking price and will be adamant suitors pay up rather than negotiate over it.

Meanwhile, West Ham’s interest in Sangare could have come after suffering defeat in their pursuit of Amadou Onana. The Lille midfielder, who was considered a priority target for Moyes, is set to join Everton in a €40 million deal.

Sangare has been a critical figure for PSV, helping them challenge Ajax for the Eredivisie title last season. However, a challenge from the Premier League could be enticing enough for the 24-year-old to reconsider his stay at the Dutch club.

Sangare’s arrival will raise the physical profile of the Hammers. The defensive midfielder has also been fit enough to play a consistent amount of games for PSV in the two seasons he has been there. And while the prospect of representing West Ham could be daunting, although the 24-year-old has the attributes to make it big in the Premier League for years to come.
