Manchester United have reportedly agreed on a £15 million deal with Juventus to sign French midfielder Adrien Rabiot this summer.

According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are closing in on signing Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. The Red Devils have agreed on a deal worth £15 million plus £5 million in add-ons with the Serie A giants for the French midfielder, who has a year remaining on his contract at the Allianz Stadium.

Manchester United are desperate to sign a central midfielder in the ongoing transfer window, and Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong is their top target. However, despite agreeing on a transfer fee with the Catalan giants, the move has stalled because of the Dutchman’s reluctance to depart from Camp Nou.

Chelsea are also in the mix for de Jong and are ready to pay the deferred wages that he is owed by Barcelona, which the Catalan club are not ready to pay all at once. This has forced Manchester United to look at possible alternatives and a damning performance in their Premier League season opener has forced their hands to act quickly.

The Red Devils have responded by approaching Juventus for a move for Adrien Rabiot, along with contacting Bologna for Marko Arnautovic. Both these links have not gone down well with the Manchester United fans.

But Manchester United have agreed on terms with Juventus over a move for the 27-year-old midfielder. A fee worth £15 million plus £5 million in add-ons has been agreed with the Serie A giants, but the Red Devils are yet to agree on terms over personal deals with the midfielder, who is represented by his mother, Veronique.

The report by Manchester Evening News claims that Veronique Rabiot could be the ‘only stumbling block’ in a potential move to Old Trafford for her son. She had approached Manchester United back in 2014 to bid for Rabiot after his move to AS Roma broke down.

Rabiot was also linked with Manchester United in 2019 before joining Juventus. He has since made 129 appearances for the Serie A club, scoring six times and assisting six goals as well. However, he is expected to fall down the pecking order following the arrivals of Manuel Locatelli, Denis Zakaria and Paul Pogba this year. Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the French midfielder.
