Liverpool will reportedly wage a battle with Barcelona and PSG in the race to sign Bernardo Silva from Manchester City.

According to a bizarre report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Bernardo Silva has popped up on the radar of Liverpool over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Manchester City midfielder is also a target for Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, with Camp Nou his preferred destination.

Bernardo Silva is at a crossroads in his career after arguably his best-ever season in club football. The Portuguese international was pivotal for the Citizens when they successfully defended their Premier League title in the 2021/22 season. But he wants to embark on a new adventure in the ongoing transfer window.

While Manchester City initially refused to let the 27-year-old playmaker leave this summer, Pep Guardiola recently admitted that the player could depart from the Etihad in the ongoing transfer window. And Silva’s situation has not gone unnoticed, with Barcelona, PSG, and Liverpool setting their sights on him.

Barcelona’s interest in Silva is well-documented, and the latest reports claim they have initiated contact with Manchester City for him. The Catalan giants view the Portuguese midfielder as a replacement for Frenkie de Jong, who they want to offload to balance their books and register new signings. And Silva is reportedly keen on joining Barcelona this summer.

As for PSG, Les Parisiens are remodelling their midfield unit under the watchful eye of Christophe Galtier. The Ligue 1 champions have already signed two midfielders this summer but want to continue overhauling their squad, thus setting their sights on battling Barcelona for Silva.

The latest European bigwigs to be linked with Silva are Liverpool. The Reds have an ageing midfield unit, with James Milner, Jordan Henderson, and Thiago Alcantara in their thirties. But while Silva is an option worth considering for Liverpool, the rumour makes no sense.

Liverpool and Manchester City will never exchange pivotal figures, considering they are Premier League title rivals. So Barcelona and PSG should be the front-runners in the race to sign Silva, who will hope to depart from the Etihad in the ongoing transfer window.
