Chelsea have reportedly had another bid for Wesley Fofana rejected by Leicester City, with the latest offer amounting to £70 million.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Leicester City have turned down Chelsea’s latest offer for Wesley Fofana, which was around £70 million. The Blues are pushing to sign the French defender, but Brendan Rodgers insists the player is not for sale.

Chelsea are keen to finalise a deal for Wesley Fofana, but they are finding it challenging to convince Leicester City to part ways with the 21-year-old defender. The Foxes could be open to letting the young Frenchman depart if their asking price is met, which the Blues are getting closer to.

Thomas Tuchel has been frustrated by Chelsea’s inability to get their priority defensive targets such as Jules Kounde, Matthijs de Ligt and Nathan Ake, a week before the Premier League season began. Realistically, their defence looked incomplete, and the west Londoners remain desperate to address.

Having signed Kalidou Koulibaly, Chelsea set their sights on Marc Cucurella. The Blues confirmed the capture of the Spanish defender, for whom the west London club paid around £62 million, including add-ons.

Chelsea have been looking at Wesley Fofana, although initially, a deal looked questionable, knowing how much Leicester City wanted in return. The Blues had their opening offer worth £60 million turned down by the Foxes, who have stood firm on their reportedly £80 million valuation.

Fofana is reportedly keen on joining Chelsea, but it would take a monumental effort to convince the Foxes to part ways with the French defener. Recent reports claimed the Blues were considering submitting a new offer worth £70 million, and the London giants have followed up on the stories.

Chelsea have now had another offer knocked back by Leicester, which was worth £70 million. Brendan Rodgers insists Fofana is not for sale, although there is a belief the Foxes would relent if the Blues meet their asking price. Chelsea are very serious about signing Fofana and may continue to push for the centre-back.

The Blues will likely lodge another offer for the French defender and hope to find a breakthrough in negotiations. Tuchel is also keen on bringing in a new attacker before the transfer deadline. However, the current priority for Chelsea would be to sign Fofana and close the chapter of strengthening their defensive ranks for the new campaign.
