Everton are reportedly weighing signing Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Conor Coady in the summer transfer window.

According to English journalist Alan Myers, Conor Coady is the subject of interest from Everton over a possible move in the summer transfer window. Frank Lampard is a keen admirer of the 29-year-old Wolverhampton Wanderers defender as he looks to get his squad in the right shape this month.

Conor Coady is a native of Merseyside and spent his formative years with Rainford Rangers and Liverpool. But the English defender barely featured for Liverpool and had to grind his way through the lower leagues before finding his feet at Wolverhampton Wanderers following his move to the Molineux in July 2015.

The 29-year-old has been the first-choice centre-back for Wolves in the last seven years, serving the club as the full-time captain for nearly half a decade. And Coady, who has turned out over 300 times for the Midlands outfit, has been instrumental in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ stable status as a Premier League mainstay. And his exploits have captured the attention of Everton.

The Toffees have already bolstered their defence this summer by signing James Tarkowski and Ruben Vinagre (on loan). Tarkowski has reinforced Everton’s central defensive unit, and he will likely be the first-choice centre-back for the Merseyside club in the 2022/23 season.

But Frank Lampard could see Mason Holgate depart from Goodison Park amid interest from West Ham United. And with Michael Keane and Yerry Mina blowing hot and cold during their respective stints with Everton, the club could do with another central defensive addition, budget permitting.

The Toffees still need to sign a midfielder, with Idrissa Gueye closing in on returning to Goodison Park. In addition, Amadou Onana could also join Everton, with the Lille midfielder likely to snub West Ham United to join the Merseyside outfit. Meanwhile, Everton will also need to invest in a striker due to Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s latest fitness issue.

Ludovic Ajorque has emerged on Everton’s radar, with Michy Batshuayi another target. The Toffees can then address the defensive issues, once the midfield and offensive units are in the right shape. And with Frank Lampard an admirer of Coady, the 29-year-old Wolverhampton Wanderers captain could well move across the Premier League to return to Merseyside, although Wolves might stand in his way.
