Chelsea have reportedly offered more than £50 million to sign Marc Cucurella, and a deal seems closer to being agreed with Brighton & Hove Albion.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Chelsea have made a solid proposal to Brighton & Hove Albion for Marc Cucurella, offering more than £50 million. The Blues are now confident about completing a move, having already agreed to personal terms with the Spanish full-back.

Chelsea are stepping up their chase of Marc Cucurella, having established contact with Brighton & Hove Albion quickly in the last few days. The Spanish full-back has becomes a primary objective for the west Londoners, with Thomas Tuchel desperately looking to bring in quality defensive reinforcements ahead of the new Premier League season.

In the wake of Brighton rejecting two bids from Manchester City for the 23-year-old defender, Cucurella swiftly handed in a transfer request. The Seagulls were reportedly adamant about getting at least £50 million from suitors, but City refused to go beyond their £40 million valuation.

As talks broke down between the two clubs, Chelsea swiftly entered into the conversation by approaching Brighton on Monday. The Blues want to quickly agree on a deal to wrap up Cucurella as their third major signing of the summer.

Chelsea have now made an offer in excess of £50 million to Brighton and hope to agree on a deal. Personal terms are already in place with Cucurella, who is ready to accept the proposal once the clubs decide on the final fee.

Brighton reportedly remain open to a sale once they figure out a replacement and decide whether Chelsea’s offer meets their valuation. Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Levi Colwill could be included in a deal, although Brighton now reportedly want that agreement to be separate.

The two clubs could discuss the deal for Colwill, but they would like to conclude the Cucurella agreement first. The Spanish full-back is also keen on joining Chelsea as he seeks to advance his career.

After they complete the Cucurella signing, Chelsea will be expected to remain active in the window. Another defender could be arriving, with Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana and Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries on their radar. In addition, the Blues are also in talks with Barcelona for Frenkie de Jong.
