Promising Arsenal whizkid Charlie Patino is reportedly set to join Championship club Blackpool on a season-long loan deal.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Charlie Patino is on the verge of joining Blackpool on a season-long loan deal. The exciting Arsenal youngster is considered the club’s future, with Mikel Arteta wanting him to play plenty of games in the upcoming season.

Arsenal seem to have a plan for their younger players, as Mikel Arteta seeks to develop the club’s academy stars steadily. And the Arsenal manager and Edu Gaspar feel the best way to start their progress would be to allow them plenty of playing time in the upcoming season.

At Arsenal, such a prospect would be challenging to come by for young prospects like Charlie Patino, Miguel Azeez and Matt Smith. Hence the best solution would be to send them on loan where they can feature from time to time.

Patino is regarded as one of the best talents to come out of Arsenal’s Hale End academy, and the north London giants are keen to develop him correctly. But fans may disagree with the notion of a loan deal, as they would have wanted the teenager to remain with the squad and learn under Arteta.

However, Patino is on the verge of joining Championship outfit Blackpool for the 2022/23 season on a loan deal. The Arsenal whizkid is pencilled in for medicals today, and after that, the two clubs will sign the contracts that will last until June 2023.

Patino has accepted his new destination and is keen to play a part in Blackpool’s season. Like the youngster, players like Miguel Azeez – a target for Girona – could also depart this summer. Arsenal have a stable full of young talents coming out of their academy, although finding room for them in the first team is a problem.

Similarly, another youngster, Matt Smith, could also depart with plenty of interest coming from Championship teams. Arsenal are also expected to find solutions for Brooke Norton-Cuffy, Kido Taylor-Hart and Salah Oulad M’Hand’s immediate futures.

Patino has already shown what he was capable of in a few appearances for the Gunners last season. The 18-year-old whizkid dramatically came on as a substitute in an EFL Cup game and scored his first senior goal for the club. After that, however, Arteta decided not to take him along for the pre-season tour to the USA, which indicated the player might be shipped out on loan.
