La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly weighing up the prospect of signing Chelsea forward Timo Werner, a target for Arsenal and Juventus.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Timo Werner is the subject of interest from Chelsea over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The struggling Chelsea attacker is also a target for Arsenal and Juventus, with the German international likely to depart from Stamford Bridge in the coming weeks.

Timo Werner joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig amid a lot of hype and fanfare after finishing the 2019/20 season as one of the top scorers in the Bundesliga. But the 26-year-old has been a shell of the mercurial striker he was at RB Leipzig, with goals coming at a premium in the last two seasons.

The German international has been one of the most productive players for Chelsea in the last two seasons but has a sub-par tally of 23 goals and 21 assists in 89 outings thus far. And recent reports have claimed that he could depart from Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window, with his situation capturing the attention of Real Madrid and Arsenal.

Carlo Ancelotti recently claimed that Real Madrid will not delve into the market for another player in the summer transfer window. But Los Blancos might have to search for a striker soon, as Borja Mayoral and Mariano Diaz face uncertain futures at the Santiago Bernabeu. And the Real Madrid manager has recently changed his tune, suggesting he might ask for an attacker if a few stars leave.

Werner is thus a viable target for Real Madrid, with his versatility making him a potential regular for Ancelotti while being Karim Benzema’s deputy. But Real Madrid will have to fend off stiff competition from Arsenal to sign the German international from Chelsea.

The Gunners do not need to sign a striker after securing the services of Gabriel Jesus and tying Eddie Nketiah to a new contract. But Werner’s versatility means the Chelsea forward could be an option for the flanks, with Arsenal looking to replace the underperforming Nicolas Pepe.

Apart from Real Madrid and Arsenal, Werner is also a target for Juventus. However, the latest reports have suggested that Chelsea might look to keep hold of the 26-year-old beyond the summer transfer window. Such a situation will force Real Madrid, Arsenal and others to look for alternatives, but they will hope to sign Werner from Chelsea this summer.
