Catalan giants Barcelona are reportedly ready to offer 28-year-old Dutch forward Memphis Depay in a swap deal to sign Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham.

According to reputed Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, as relayed by Sport Witness, Barcelona will look to engineer a swap deal to sign Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window. The Catalan giants are ready to offer 28-year-old Dutch forward Memphis Depay to sweeten the move for Spurs.

Sergio Reguilon has failed to hit the heights of his spell with Sevilla since joining Tottenham from Real Madrid nearly two years ago. The Spaniard had been one of the best full-backs in La Liga during his short stint at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium but has blown hot and cold at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 25-year-old has turned out only 67 times for Spurs in the last two seasons, chipping in with two goals and nine assists. And Antonio Conte does not have a place for Reguilon in his plans, especially after Tottenham secured the services of Ivan Perisic in a Bosman move. Such a situation has captured the attention of Barcelona.

Recent reports have claimed that Barcelona will unlikely launch the offensive to sign Reguilon from Tottenham in the summer transfer window due to his past association with Real Madrid. The full-back also has his allegiance to Los Blancos, thus compelling the Blaugrana to rule out a transfer.

But according to Gerard Romero, Reguilon remains on Barcelona’s radar over a move in the ongoing transfer window. The Catalan giants are in the market for a left-back as Jordi Alba is well into his thirties, while Alejandro Balde is yet to make his mark in the first-team squad at Camp Nou.

Reguilon is thus a viable target for Barcelona, who will look to engineer a swap deal to secure the services of the 25-year-old. They are ready to offer 28-year-old Dutch forward Memphis Depay to bring Reguilon to Camp Nou, hoping the proposal sweetens the move for Tottenham.

Depay features on Tottenham’s wishlist this summer. But recent reports have suggested that the 28-year-old forward does not want to join Barcelona. And for a swap deal to go through, all four parties must be on the same page. Barcelona and Tottenham are thus in a spot of bother, with Reguilon in limbo over his future.
