Roberto Firmino is reportedly edging closer to joining Serie A giants Juventus, with the Serie A giants in advanced talks with Liverpool over a summer move.

According to a report by Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, talks between Juventus and Liverpool over a move for Roberto Firmino have reached an advanced stage. The Serie A giants are closing in on signing the Brazilian forward in a deal worth £19 million in the ongoing transfer window.

Roberto Firmino is a modern-day legend for Liverpool, with the 30-year-old carving a lasting legacy for himself at Anfield in the last seven years. Firmino joined Liverpool just a few months before Jurgen Klopp arrived at the Merseyside club and became a vital cog in the German manager’s squad.

While the Brazilian international struggled to feature prominently last season, he has a solid record of 98 goals and 74 assists in 327 appearances for Liverpool. But after entering the final year of his contract, he could depart from Anfield this summer, as he wants to secure a spot in the Brazilian national squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Juventus could hand Firmino a new adventure soon.

The interest from Juventus stems from the departure of Alvaro Morata, with the Spaniard unlikely to permanently join the Serie A giants. The Italian heavyweights have thus had to dip their toes in the market for an attacking reinforcement, especially with Moise Kean’s future also up in the air.

Several versatile forwards have thus popped up on Juventus’s radar, including Timo Werner, Anthony Martial, and Memphis Depay. But Firmino has recently become the priority target for the Bianconeri, with the Liverpool attacker’s qualities making him the perfect foil for a more natural striker like Dusan Vlahovic.

According to the report, the Serie A giants are edging closer to landing the Liverpool forward, with the two clubs in advanced talks over a summer move. Juventus will shell out around £19 million to snare Firmino away from Liverpool in the coming days.

The latest development comes in the wake of suggestions that pointed at Liverpool’s reluctance to sell Firmino. But with the Brazilian international keen on securing regular game-time to make it to the World Cup, the Reds’ hands might have been tied, allowing him to join Juventus.
