Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane in the summer transfer window.

According to journalist Christian Falk, Chelsea have joined the race to sign 28-year-old Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane. The Blues are on the hunt for a number nine this summer following the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan on loan.

Chelsea seemed to have solved their striker crisis when they re-signed Romelu Lukaku last summer. But the reunion did not go as planned, with the Belgian international falling out of favour under manager Thomas Tuchel.

The German tactician’s system did not play to Lukaku’s strengths, and the forward pointed that out during an explosive interview with Sky Italia in December last year. During the conversation, the 28-year-old also expressed his desire to return to Inter Milan, whom he helped win the 2020/21 Serie A title.

The striker eventually got his wish as the Nerazzurri re-signed him from Chelsea on a year-long loan deal. Some reports have claimed that Chelsea want them to have the Belgian international for another season, following which the Blues will try to sell him permanently.

There have also been reports linking Timo Werner with an exit. The German attacker has failed to settle down at Stamford Bridge and is often put on the Chelsea bench, with Tuchel preferring a false nine to lead his attack.

Following Raheem Sterling’s arrival, Werner’s game time could take a further hit, and he could thus be on the move this summer. If the former RB Leipzig striker departs as well, Chelsea will be left needing a striker to lead their line.

As per Christian Falk, Chelsea admire Harry Kane but are aware that Spurs would not want to sell the 28-year-old England striker to a direct rival if he decides against renewing his contract. Kane still has two years left on his contract with the north London club, and Tottenham are expected to try and tie him down to a longer deal.

Bayern Munich are among the interested parties as well, with the German giants reportedly interested in a move for the Englishman next summer. Bayern manager Julian Nagelsman recently hinted that they could move for Kane next year, but those comments did not go down too well with Antonio Conte.
