Marcos Alonso might not secure his desired move to Barcelona, with Chelsea reportedly blocking his transfer to Camp Nou this summer.

According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Chelsea’s reaction to Barcelona stealing a march on them in the race to sign Jules Kounde will see them block moves for two wantaway defenders. In particular, the Blues are not letting Marcos Alonso move to Camp Nou, leaving Barcelona scrambling for alternatives.

The transfer saga involving Marcos Alonso, Chelsea, and Barcelona has been a roller-coaster ride. At one moment, it seems like the Spaniard, who wants to return to his homeland in the summer transfer window, will soon move to Camp Nou. At the other moment, it looks like the move has stalled.

We have reached one end of the spectrum again, with Chelsea reportedly blocking Barcelona’s path to securing the services of the 31-year-old in the summer transfer window. The west Londoners are agitated after Barcelona hijacked their move for Jules Kounde. And they do not want to conduct any business with the Blaugrana.

While Thomas Tuchel had already suggested that he was ready to stop Azpilicueta from joining Barcelona, the Blues have gone a step ahead to block Alonso’s potential move to Camp Nou. And the Spanish international will not be pleased by the latest developments, as he has already agreed to a contract with Barcelona.

Alonso has been a regular for Chelsea since arriving from Fiorentina nearly half a dozen years ago. And while he has not been as consistent as desired, he still has a solid return of 29 goals and 23 assists in 211 appearances thus far for Chelsea.

However, after being loyal to Chelsea through thick and thin in the last six years, Alonso has been keen on moving back to Spain. And with Barcelona looking for an alternative for Jordi Alba in the first-team squad, the wantaway full-back would have been hopeful of his prospects of joining the Blaugrana this summer.

So Alonso’s hopes of joining Barcelona in the summer transfer window seem to be dead in the water, with Chelsea blocking his desired move. The Blues have now faced defeat from Barcelona in the race to sign two players – Raphinha and Jules Kounde. And the byproduct of that will be blocked transfers for Azpilicueta and Alonso.
