Barcelona star Neto has been offered a contract worth €2 million per year by Napoli, but the goalkeeper is holding out for more.

According to Tutto Mercato Web, Barcelona goalkeeper Neto is negotiating a contract with Serie A giants Napoli as he pushes for an exit from Camp Nou this summer. The Brazilian international has been offered a deal worth €2 million-a-year by the Partenopei, but he is seeking an additional €300,000.

Neto’s time at Barcelona is coming to an end. The 33-year-old Brazilian joined the club in 2019 from Valencia but has struggled for game-time during his spell at Camp Nou, having had to play second-fiddle to Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Neto has been pushing for an exit from Barcelona for quite some time now. And the La Liga behemoths are ready to sanction a departure this summer, with Inaki Pena ready to take over as ter Stegen’s understudy. To that end, the Blaugrana omitted Neto from their pre-season tour of the US so that he can sort out his future at the earliest.

A move to Celta Vigo seemed close until Neto decided not to join the La Liga rivals. Following that, he has been offered to Napoli, who are in the market for a new goalkeeper following the exit of David Ospina.

Napoli are looking at several options, including Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga and PSG’s Keylor Navas. But they have started negotiating with Neto, who could be available for a free transfer as Barcelona are open to giving him the letter of freedom to get his wages off their books this summer.

There has been developments in talks between Neto and Napoli, with the report claiming that the Italian outfit have tabled a contract offer to the 33-year-old goalkeeper. As per the terms offered, the former Juventus and Fiorentina would stand to make around €2 million per year.

However, it is claimed that the custodian is holding out for higher pay, with the Barcelona ace said to be seeking an extra €300,000 on the €2 million-a-year offer. Talks are expected to continue between the two parties, and it will be interesting to see if they can come to an agreement in the coming days.
