Serie A giants Juventus are reportedly set to submit an improved offer to Liverpool for veteran Brazilian attacker Roberto Firmino.

According to Fichajes, Juventus are keen on getting Liverpool attacker Roberto Firmino on board this summer and are prepared to raise their offer to sign the veteran attacker. The Serie A giants had previously bid €23 million for the Brazilian forward, but Liverpool were reluctant to accept it.

Firmino has been with Liverpool since 2015 when he joined them from Hoffenheim in a deal worth around €40 million. The Brazilian international more than repaid the amount the Reds paid for him, representing the club in over 300 matches, in which he has scored 98 goals and provided 74 assists.

His time at Liverpool coincided with their best period in the Premier League era as the Reds, under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp, won their 19th English league title and also their sixth UEFA Champions League crown.

Firmino was at the centre of it all, as alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, he formed one of the greatest attacking trios the Premier League has ever seen. But the days of Liverpool’s holy trinity have now come to an end, with Mane joining Bayern Munich earlier this summer.

Going into the summer window, all three of Liverpool’s revered attackers had a year each remaining on their contracts. While Salah has signed an extension, Mane chose to depart and it is up to Firmino now to decide what the future holds for him.

2022 being a World Cup year, Firmino is keen to have significant game time behind him and is thus inclined to leave as he could struggle to play regularly at Anfield. The arrivals of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz over the last couple of years have pushed Firmino down the pecking order and Darwin Nunez’s arrival at Liverpool is going to further limit his game time.

Juventus have emerged as a likely destination with the Bianconeri keen to provide him with a way out as well. They submitted an initial €23 million bid, which did not convince Liverpool to sanction the sale. The Serie A outfit are now prepared to submit an improved offer in the hope that they can get the deal through quickly.

Barcelona were also keeping tabs on Firmino, but they have signed Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski this summer. So it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the veteran Liverpool forward.
