Everton are keen to secure the signature of former Real Sociedad star Adnan Januzaj.

According to Fichajes, Premier League side Everton are keen to land Real Sociedad star Adnan Januzaj in the ongoing 2022 summer transfer window.

The Belgian was an up-and-coming prospect at Manchester United and even put in some promising displays for the club under Sir Alex Ferguson. While he was afforded several opportunities, Januzaj never quite established himself at the Theatre of Dreams.

He spent two seasons on loan before making a permanent switch to Real Sociedad in 2017. The 27-year-old has, to his credit, reinvented himself in Spain and carved out a nice niche for himself in the game. His performances have not gone unnoticed back in England, with Everton among those keeping tabs.

It has been a forgettable summer for Frank Lampard still smarting from staving off relegation last season. Everton look woeful in pre-season and have also lost star striker Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur. Unless they bring in reinforcements, the Toffees could be set for yet another long and hard season in the Premier League.

Adding bite to the attack should be a priority, and in Januzaj, they could get themselves a player who can play on either flank and also function as an attacking midfielder. Adding Januzaj to the roster will hand Lampard a reliable option on the flanks. Add to it the Belgian’s ability to dribble and hit crosses, and he could prove to be the perfect foil for the towering Dominic Calvert-Lewin upfront.

Januzaj’s contract at the Reale Arena expired on June 30, and he is yet to reach an agreement with the Spanish side regarding a new deal. Landing a player of the Belgian’s experience, that too for free would be an excellent piece of business for themselves.

Everton have already reached out to the player’s entourage regarding a summer switch to Merseyside and proposed an offer. A move to Goodison Park will allow Januzaj to rebuild his name in the English game. The Toffees might not be the powerhouse of old, but as long as he performs, the Belgian could develop into a fan favourite and prove his doubters wrong.

Januzaj’s former boss David Moyes, now at West Ham United is also in the fray as he considers the prospect of a reunion at the London Stadium. The Hammers boss is aware of the Belgian’s strengths and could do with some strength in depth in attack. West Ham are overly dependent on Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio for bite upfront and adding Januzaj into the mix could make their lives easier as a whole.

Having submitted an offer, Everton have now made their first move. Whether they will seize the initiative and convince the player that his future lies on Merseyside remains to be seen.
