West Ham are confident of completing a sensational double swoop for Amadou Onana and Jesse Lingard.

The coming week is going to be crucial for West Ham United as they look to land a few top targets and strengthen the core of the side ahead of the new season. As per Evening Standard, the Londoners are hopeful of completing no less than two deals in the near future.

One of them is Jesse Lingard. The English playmaker has taken his time to make a definitive decision on his future after running down his contract at Manchester United at the end of last season. He has travelled to the US to explore offers from MLS while clubs from Saudi Arabia have been in contention as well.

West Ham, though, are in pole position to sign the former Manchester United playmaker, who had enjoyed immense success under David Moyes previously. Lingard’s return to London Stadium could go a long way in helping West Ham reinforce their creative options ahead of the new season.

Meanwhile, the Hammers are confident of signing yet another midfielder in the form of Amadou Onana. The LOSC Lille starlet has emerged as a sought-after prospect in the market this summer after enjoying a rapid rise to prominence for Les Dogues.

Liverpool and Arsenal are among the clubs to have expressed the desire to sign the defensive midfielder in the summer. But it is West Ham who are in a decent position, having made a £30 million offer for the youngster.

Although Lille have rejected West Ham’s two previous offers and are yet to respond to the third one, the Londoners are confident they will agree to the transfer, especially considering the fact that Onana lacks experience at the highest level and may not fetch such a high-value next summer, if he fails to continue his momentum.

West Ham, though, will be hoping he does as the youngster could prove to be a critical feature in the club’s midfield unit in the years to come. Especially with Declan Rice tipped to leave the Hammers next year, Onana could emerge as a direct replacement for the English international.

Overall, the addition of both Lingard and Onana could go a long way in reinforcing West Ham’s second line of press along with their creative unit. It would enable them to create more opportunities, thus making them self-reliant and capable of competing for the European spots yet again next season.
