Atletico Madrid are unlikely to make a move for Cristiano Ronaldo this summer as they reportedly see the transfer as ‘unfeasible’.

According to MARCA, Atletico Madrid have decided not to press ahead with their pursuit of Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo as they consider a move for the Portuguese maverick ‘unfeasible’.

Ronaldo’s second spell at Manchester United could be coming to a short end as the veteran forward has informed the club of his decision to leave this summer. Having joined the Red Devils only last summer, the 37-year-old enjoyed a solid season on a personal level. But the team as a whole struggled to achieve any form of success.

The failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League and the slow start to the transfer window have left Ronaldo disillusioned and wanting a move away. The former Real Madrid superstar did not travel with the rest of the Manchester United squad on their pre-season tour. And even though Erik ten Hag wants to keep him, the veteran star is pushing for an exit.

Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has been offering the Manchester United icon to clubs across Europe but has been met with rejections. Atletico Madrid, however, had shown an interest in signing the 37-year-old Portugal captain.

A move to Diego Simeone’s side seemed improbable considering Ronaldo’s history with Real Madrid and his past rivalry with Los Rojiblancos. However, reports in Spain earlier this week indicated that the Manchester United legend would be open to moving to the Wanda Metropolitano this summer.

But according to the latest developments, Atletico Madrid are distancing themselves from a move for Ronaldo. The La Liga heavyweights believe that signing the former Real Madrid and Juventus ace is economically not viable for the club at this moment. They are already struggling to get the deal for Nahuel Molina over the line, and signing Ronaldo would require a huge financial effort, which is not feasible for them.

So, as things stand, a move to the Wanda Metropolitano is unlikely to be on the cards for Ronaldo. With the Portugal captain fast running out of options, he could be forced to stay put at Old Trafford, especially with Manchester United considering triggering his contract extension.
