Manchester United are reportedly in talks with PSV Eindhoven over the potential signing of midfielder Ibrahim Sangare this summer.

According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Manchester United and PSV Eindhoven are involved in discussions about a possible transfer of Ibrahim Sangare, with talks progressing positively.

Sangare joined PSV in the summer of 2020 after spending four years with French club Toulouse. The 24-year-old has proven to be an excellent addition to the Dutch side, establishing himself as one of the best in his position in Eredivisie. He has made 85 appearances for the club, scoring five goals and winning the Dutch Cup and the Dutch Super Cup.

Sangare’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with several clubs across Europe taking note of his talents. And Manchester United are among the 24-year-old Ivory Coast international’s admirers this summer.

After a slow start to the transfer window, Manchester United are starting to gather some momentum. Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen have joined the Red Devils, while Lisandro Martinez is on the cusp of completing a transfer to Old Trafford. The Red Devils continue to push for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, but things are not looking good for them as the Dutchman is reluctant to move.

While de Jong remains a priority to strengthen the midfield, Manchester United are also in need of a new defensive midfielder to shield the defence. Fred and Scott McTominay have not convinced while essaying that role, and Nemanja Matic is no longer at the club, thus accentuating the requirement for a new enforcer in the squad.

Declan Rice had been touted as a target for the longest time, but the England star is set to stay put at West Ham United. So, Manchester United have been forced to look elsewhere, with Sangare emerging as an option. The 24-year-old is a player that new manager Erik ten Hag will know well from his time at Ajax.

And as per the report, talks are already underway between Manchester United and PSV over a possible transfer, with negotiations progressing positively. The Ivorian has three years left on his contract, although there have been mentions of a release clause in the deal. It remains to be seen if Manchester United are successful in the pursuit of Sangare or decide to look at other targets.
