Everton have made Chelsea striker Armando Broja their No. 1 priority attacking target for the summer but will face difficulties in signing him.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea youngster Armando Broja has become Everton’s top target in the ongoing transfer window as they look to make a new attacking signing.

Broja is back at Chelsea after enjoying a solid enough loan spell away at Southampton last season. The Albanian international finished with a return of nine goals and an assist from 38 appearances in all competitions for the Saints, impressing with his all-round abilities.

Having returned to Stamford Bridge, Broja has become a subject of intense transfer speculations, with several Premier League clubs vying to sign him this summer. West Ham United have already lodged a couple of bids for the 20-year-old while Newcastle United have also been credited with an interest.

Everton are also in the race for Broja and have reportedly submitted an enquiry for the young striker. And The Athletic is now claiming that the Chelsea ace has become the No. 1 attacking target for Frank Lampard’s side this summer.

Everton suffered a massive blow this summer when they bid goodbye to Richarlison, who has joined Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth around £60 million. The Brazilian forward’s exit has left a massive void in the attacking unit at Goodison Park, increasing the pressure on Dominic Calvert-Lewin to produce the goods in front of the goal.

Lampard is thus intent on recruiting another attacking player this summer to provide cover and competition for Calvert-Lewin. The Toffees, to that end, have been linked with a host of names ranging from Espanyol’s Raul De Tomas to former Manchester City superstar Edin Dzeko, among others.

However, Broja is now believed to be at the top of Lampard’s wishlist for the summer. But signing the 20-year-old from Chelsea will be a tricky task for Everton. The Blues’ boss, Thomas Tuchel, recently insisted that the club are planning to keep hold of the young striker having let Romelu Lukaku leave.

But Broja might seek assurances over his game-time before deciding on his future. Even then, given the interest from West Ham and Newcastle, along with Serie A side Napoli, Everton could struggle to get their man in the ongoing transfer window.
